Copy Cleaner

Copy Cleaner is an app that cleans up copied text from one application to another. By default it removes tabs, extra spaces and line breaks, but it can also remove complex patterns of characters using regular expressions, making this a tool I regularly use when designing for laying out copy from MS Word and web pages It's also super useful for correctly formatting code copied from other applications. For repetitive conversion its click, click, click and done.

I use Copy Cleaner most days at work. For design, I like to drop unformatted, single-spaced text into layout applications like InDesign, and rip out any dodgy characters like those that exist in copied text from applications like MS Word, Adobe PDF or from web pages. And when coding I use this tool to concatenate multi-line command sequences from other apps so it's useable in my code.

Copy Cleaner has a simple interface with just three buttons - PASTE clipboard contents - PROCESS the text using the settings defined - COPY text to clipboard.

Features:
  • By default, strips tabs,  multiple carriage returns and spaces
  • Use regular expressions (regex) to select text using complex matching
  • Option to automatically create single line of text
  • Saves used regular expressions between sessions for re-use.
  • Customisable interface, simple controls

This application is under development, with a number of planned improvements including:

  • Support complex regex replacements using find groups.
  • Fix empty find and replace not being saved between sessions.

Copy Cleaner is free. It doesn't connect to the internet, gather telemetry or display advertisements. Use it and enjoy. If you would like to say thanks, consider making a donation via PayPal.
